Sick of the "Sick" Label?
So often I see clients that are on a variety of meds for depression, anxiety and the like. More often than not, clients present with anger or shame for being “broken” and “sick.” Here’s a great article on winning the battle over the stigma of taking meds. Though the article is specific to Bipolar disorder, the message is universal.

Using meds is a very personal choice based on a combination of your own intuition and a Dr's recommendation. If you do feel that meds are the right choice for you and are struggling with inner feelings of shame over having to take them, then don't think of your meds as pills for a “sick" person. Think of them as "happiness insurance". As long as you keep taking them, you don't have to worry about the chemicals in your brain getting imbalanced and screwing up your life.
